How to bridge to PulseChain
Bridging is not a transfer. The tokens you send never move to the other chain. Instead, a contract on the original chain either holds or burns them. A second contract on the destination chain is informed of this action and credits the equivalent amount there. Bridges vary based on the chain pairs they connect, the assets they support, and who is trusted to pass the message.
Two bridges reach PulseChain, and recognizing which one you are using can prevent most misunderstandings. PulseSwap includes a bridge tab that moves USDC between PulseChain and 6 other chains using Hyperlane warp routes. The official PulseChain bridge at bridge.pulsechain.com serves as the standard Ethereum route, handling assets that originate on Ethereum, including ether itself. These are independent systems with separate contracts, and a transfer initiated on one cannot be completed on the other.
What you need on the other side
Gas on PulseChain is paid in PLS, the native currency of the chain. A wallet holding tokens but lacking PLS cannot send anything at all. Plan accordingly before bridging, as neither bridge provides PLS in exchange for what you send. The PulseSwap bridge issues hUSDC, while the official bridge delivers the PulseChain equivalent of the asset transferred.
The issue isn't with the arrival itself. On the PulseSwap bridge, the destination cost is prepaid inside the transaction you authorize on the originating chain, allowing tokens to reach a PulseChain wallet that holds nothing at all. The next transaction needs PLS. Add PulseChain to your wallet, obtain a small amount of PLS, and the rest is mechanical.
Option A: bridge USDC in the swap app
This bridge is integrated as a tab within the swap application at pulseswap.io/?tab=bridge. It supports USDC transfers across 7 chains: Ethereum, Optimism, Polygon, Base, Arbitrum, Avalanche, and PulseChain. PulseChain can pair with all 6 other chains in both directions.
- Open the bridge. The interface defaults to Ethereum to PulseChain with USDC pre-selected. When a wallet is already connected on one of the 7 chains, the From field follows the wallet's chain and the To side becomes the other chain. The two sides cannot be the same chain, and the arrow between them swaps the pair.
- Connect and switch. The button beneath the card initially reads Connect Wallet until a wallet is linked, after which it changes to Switch Network if the wallet is not on the chain selected in the From field.
- Enter an amount. The balance and a MAX control are located beneath the input field. The lower field is not editable since a warp transfer credits the same amount on the destination side. The rate line displays 1 USDC = 1 hUSDC.
- Check what actually lands. On PulseChain, the asset is hUSDC, USD Coin from Hyperlane, differing from USDC minted on other chains. The To field names it before you sign anything.
- Set a recipient, or leave it. By default, the field displays the connected wallet as Self. Entering an address sends tokens there instead. An invalid entry marks the field invalid, with the error reason shown on the button, rather than disabling it silently. Tokens sent to an incorrect address cannot be retrieved.
- Approve, then bridge. Since USDC is an ERC-20, the initial transfer from a chain requires two transactions: Approve, then Bridge USDC to PulseChain. A pending transfer shows a Confirming Transaction notice, and upon confirmation, the notice provides a link to the transfer on the Hyperlane explorer.
The details line above the button specifies the Hyperlane warp route, indicating how many routes were compared and listing two costs. When multiple warp routes are available for a pair, the route holding the most on the destination side is used.
Option B: the official PulseChain bridge
The site bridge.pulsechain.com is not the bridge app itself. It serves as a launcher page with links to various methods of running the PulseChain bridge code, including the current release, an IPFS copy of the front end, desktop downloads for Windows, macOS, and Linux, and community front ends. The linked app is described as PulseChain's decentralized bridge for transferring assets from other blockchain networks to PulseChain.
Use it for moving assets native to Ethereum. It exclusively supports the Ethereum to PulseChain route and vice versa, utilizing an Omnibridge deployment with mediator contracts on both ends, and it can carry ether itself, not just ERC-20 tokens. This fills the gap not covered by the PulseSwap bridge, which is why the bridge card provides a link for users arriving with ETH.
What it costs and how long it takes
On the PulseSwap bridge, the interface displays two cost estimates, origin gas and destination gas, both priced in the native token of the originating chain. Click either to switch between that token and dollars. The second cost, an estimate for delivery on the destination side, is quoted by the router and included in the transaction, with a buffer of 1.2 times the quote when Ethereum is involved, and 2 times otherwise. No deductions are made from the transferred amount. The interface quotes 1 USDC in and 1 hUSDC out, with those two gas estimates representing the total cost.
The official bridge requires 96 block confirmations on each side before a transfer completes, which is why it is not instant. Gas on PulseChain costs a fraction of a cent, while Ethereum gas is usually what decides which chain you bridge from.
PulseChain bridge not working: what to check
The button will not let you sign. Read what it says. Enter Amount, Insufficient Balance and Enter a valid recipient are all states of the same button, each indicating the missing element. Switch Network means the wallet is on a different chain than the From field.
No costs are shown. The two gas rows appear only when the transfer is ready to be constructed, requiring a valid amount, approval, sufficient balance, and a route between the chains.
The pair is not offered. The token must exist on both ends, and the destination list never includes the source chain.
It left but nothing arrived. Transfers through the PulseSwap bridge provide a Hyperlane explorer link on the success notice, with a direct explorer link from the card. The official bridge waits for 96 confirmations before a claim completes. Each token has a minimum and maximum per transfer and a daily limit, enforced by contracts. Exceeding the limit leads to refusal, not delay. If its indexer lags, manual claim forms are offered instead.
It arrived, and now nothing works. The wallet holds bridged tokens and no PLS. Without PLS, nothing on PulseChain will send.
